Proyecto Visión has built and donated the OMA School in Qwiha to the people of Tigray.
Proyecto Visión has built the OMA School to train local ophthalmic nursing staff (OMA – Ophtalmic Medical Assistant) and trachoma and cataract surgeons (Cataract Surgeon). The school is located within the grounds of Qwiha Hospital, a town near Mekelle, where the university schools and hospitals are located.
Since its inauguration in 2008, the School has trained around 100 OMAs and cataract surgeons who practice in the various woredas (counties) of Tigray.
The Tigray health authorities are currently in charge of the OMA School in Qwiha.
