EUROPAMUNDO has helped us on several occasions, for which we are very grateful. In 2019, we received the €12,000 grant we requested in 2018, and in 2022, we were approved for the 2019 grant we had requested, which had been suspended due to the pandemic. These grants helped us maintain the clinic and allowed us to make improvements to the operating room, which impacted our surgeries.
This year, we applied for a grant for an “Eye Health Project in Tigray” (Extraordinary Grant for the St. Louise Eye Clinic 2024) in the amount of €10,000, corresponding to 12% of our clinic budget. This would correspond to approximately 1,869 ophthalmological visits, 87 foreign body removals, 155 refraction studies, 149 surgeries, 9 YAG laser capsulotomies, 1,626 health education classes, and 235 school checkups, and would cover the travel of six volunteer workers.
And the good news is that we have just received confirmation that EUROPAMUNDO has approved our application and will grant us €10,000 for our activities in Ethiopia.
